NOXUBEE COUNTY — Bettye Sue “Granny B” Rivers, 85, died July 4, 2025, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Calvary M.B. Church in Shuqualak, with Roy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Slaughter Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rivers was born June 8, 1940, in Noxubee County, to the late Henry Payton and Callie Mae Primas. She was a member of Calvary M.B. Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Rivers; children, Vernita Rivers and Trina Rivers; and sister, Barbara Diane Primas.

She is survived by her children, Sherman Rivers Jr., and Veranice R. Hill, both of Shuqualak, Keith Edward Rivers of San Diego, California, and Joyah Seaton of West Palm Beach; siblings, Jeanette Harris and Addie Brandy, both of East St. Louis, Illinois, and Theodo Payton of Chicago; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
