Betty Jones Pate, 84 of Carrollton, AL passed away July 5, 2009 after a brief illness. A private family graveside service will be held at 10:30 am at Carrollton City Cemetery and a church memorial service will follow at Carrollton United Methodist Church on July 7, 2009 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Tom Hammons and the Rev. Penny Ford officiating. Skelton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the church. Mrs. Pate was born March 1, 1925 in Aliceville, Ala to the late Needham and Mattie Heritage Jones. Betty grew up in Aliceville and lived in Carrollton throughout her adult life. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was always active in civic activities, bridge club, community, traveling with Sam in the RV and in her church, Carrollton United Methodist. Betty was a loving wife, mother and friend. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. A special thanks to caregivers, Micki Graham, Barbara Kimbrell, Louise Sutton and Sue Yarbrough. Mrs. Pate is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers James Jones, John Morris Jones and Webster Jones and one sister; Martha Walker. Mrs. Pate is survived by her loving husband Sam F. Pate of Carrollton, AL; daughters, Jane Quarles (Charlie) of Carrollton, AL and Susan Kavkewitz (Michael) of Chattanooga, TN; son, Frank Pate (Betty) of Carrollton, AL; sister, Mary Ann Junkins; brother, Needham Jones (Jo); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
