HAMILTON, Ala. — Betty Joyce Newsome, 65, died Jan. 20, 2026, at her residence. 

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Otts Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Newsome was born Jan. 26, 1960, in Aliceville, Alabama, to the late Clyde Dillard and Willie Mae Banks Dillard. She was a graduate of Sulligent High School, Bevill State and Kaplan University. She was formerly employed at Wrangler, Health-Tex and Sitel. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Watten and Tommy Newsome; son, Chad Warren; brothers, George Dillard, Matt Dillard, Cod Dillard, Preacher Dillard, Jimmy Dillard, John Dillard, Frank Dillard and James Dillard; and sister, Virginia Faulkner. 

She is survived by her son, Clint Watten and Phillip Newsome, both of Hamilton; brothers, Jack Dillard of Greenwood Springs and Guy Dillard of Sulligent; sister, Gladys Irvin of Hamilton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Stephen Warren, Michael Woodall, Clint Warren, Andy Newsome, Jonathan Gersh and Phillip Newsome.
