WEST POINT — Bertha L. Williams, 92, died March 9, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, at Old St. Peter M.B. Church, with the Rev. Thomas Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Saturday at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Williams was born May 17, 1933, in West Point, to the late Rev. Jerry Green Sr. and Lillian Green. She was formerly employed as a librarian assistant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Williams; children, Billy W. Williams, Melvin E. Williams and Carolyn Williams; and siblings, Jerry Green Jr., Lephelia Harris and Elizabeth Griffin.
She is survived by her children, Michael D. Williams, Martha J. Smith, Mary Ann Henley and Dr. Cheryl L. Smith, all of West Point, Barbara W. Clark , Brenda W. Tate and Jacqueline Williams, all of Knoxville, Tennessee; siblings, Cleophas Green and Elois Strong, both of West Point; 25 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 45 great-great-grandchildren.
