COLUMBUS — Bernice Evans Weatherspoon, 90, died June 12, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at St. James M.B. Church in Crawford, with the Rev. Therman Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weatherspoon was born March 2, 1935, in Columbus, to the late John Henry Evans and Ann Rebecca Evans. She was formerly employed with JTB.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Weatherspoon; children, Bobby Evans and Devotis Weatherspoon; and siblings, Tinnie Mae Spearman, Hattie Hale, Elnora Lanier, Louise Henry, John Henry Jr., George Evans and R.D. Evans.

She is survived by her children, Mary Dell Rice, Valerie Tate Williford, Wash Weatherspoon, Eddie Weatherspoon and Shirley Weatherspoon; and siblings, Nora Lee Einch, Nathaniel Evans and Jasper Evans.
