GULFPORT — Arvetia Bishop, 59, died Jan. 21, 2026, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Friendship M.B. Church in Columbus, with Akeem Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Bishop was born June 3, 1966, in Columbus, to the late Robert Bishop and Dorothy Louise Drake. She was a graduate of Caldwell High School and was formerly employed with Church’s Chicken and the Palmer Home for Children. She was a member of Friendship M.B. Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin Bishop, John A. Bishop, Jessie Bishop, Diane Wells, Scherrell Sturdivant, Peggy Benson, Dorothy McDavid, James Bishop and John Bishop.

She is survived by her children, Akeem Bishop and Rayburne Bishop, both of Gulfport, and Javante Bishop of Starkville; siblings, Una Bishop of Columbus and Mary Dell Bishop of Tampa, Florida; and three grandchildren.
