COLUMBUS – Arthur Lee Gardner, 84, died March 15, 2026, at his residence. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at New Baptist Temple M.B. Church, with L.A. Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mr. Gardner was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Columbus, to the late Richard Moore and Lucy W. Hamilton. He was a member of New Baptist Temple M.B. Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jim Gardner, Lorenzo Hamilton, Ezell Moore, Susie Tony and Genevia Gardner. 

He is survived by his wife, Alma Rosa Gardner; children, DeWayne Gardner, Calvin Gardner, Cedryck Spain, all of Columbus, Arthur Gardner Jr. of Amory and Aretha Cathy of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Adartha Williams of Columbus; and grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Barry Jennings, Derrick Smith, Orgaga Poindexter, Javarkis Gardner, Christopher Miller, Willie Dawson III, Travis Gardner, Dolton Spain, Willie Arthur Spain, Ian Garnder and Jessie Fields.
