COLUMBUS — Aretha Taylor, 68, died April 14, 2026, at her residence. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Ms. Taylor was born April 10, 1957, in Lowndes County, to the late Henry Lee Taylor and Ida Bell Taylor. She was a member of Union Hopewell M.B. Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerome Taylor; and siblings, Thelma Greenlee, Jimmy Taylor, Rufus Taylor and Eddie Taylor. 

She is survived by her son, Tyrone Taylor of Columbus; siblings, Glinda Washington, Shirley Taylor, Amelia Taylor, Oscar Taylor, Johnny Clemmons, all of Columbus; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
