COLUMBUS — Allene Kirby Swoope, 86, died Jan. 10, 2026, at her residence. 

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory of Columbus is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Swoope was born Oct. 3, 1939, in Vicksburg, to the late Allen and Margrite Rafiff Kirby. She was a graduate of Rolling Fork High School and attended Holmes Junior College and Mississippi State University. She was formerly employed as an interior decorator and store manager for Sherwin Williams and at BPI. She was a member of the West Point Presbyterian Church EPA. 

She is survived by her husband, Thomas “Dake” Swoope of Columbus; daughters, Debra McVey of Columbus and Teresa Narmour of Pisgah; sister, Margaret Ann Wanock; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
