ATHENS, Ga. — Alexander Demonta “Slugger” Brown Jr., 19, died Sept. 3, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital—Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Greater Mt. Zion Church with Alexander Brown Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Visitation is today from 3- 8 p.m. at Carter’s of Columbus. Mr. Brown was born March 22, 1993, to Alexander Brown Sr., and Jacqueline Brown. He was a 2011 graduate of Columbus High School. In addition to his parents, survivors include his siblings, Virgil Devonta Carter, Gary Wayne Carter, Tony Carter and Ergin Carter, all of Columbus, Brianna Shuntae Carter of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Quashawndra Carter of Athens, Ga.
