Adele Davidson Wiygul, age 83, passed away peacefully at her residence in Odessa, Texas.
A visitation will be held at First Methodist Church, 602 Main Street, Columbus, MS 39701 on May 28, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.
Adele was born in Reform, Alabama on March 11, 1943, to the late Otis Earl Davidson and Getha McCrary Davidson.
She graduated from Pickens County High School in Reform, Alabama in 1961. That same year, Adele was crowned West Alabama Fair Queen at the Alabama State Fair in Montgomery, Alabama.
After high school, Adele moved to Macon, Mississippi and eventually settled in Columbus, Mississippi, where she met and married F.B. Wiygul.
Adele began her career as a dental assistant with F.B., later progressing to office manager, where she ran an efficient operation and kept a very tight ship. Adele and F.B. became pillars of the Columbus community, where she resided for more than 50 years.
Adele’s hobbies included exercising regularly, golfing, traveling, and volunteering. She especially enjoyed playing golf with her family and was always ready to offer golf swing instruction — whether solicited or not. Some of her most treasured memories were attending the Masters Golf Tournament each April with family and friends, spending the week in Augusta golfing and watching the tournament together. Adele’s favorite golfer was Greg “The Shark” Norman.
Adele took great pride in the dental office, where her responsibilities ranged from file management and bookkeeping to accounts receivable and payable. She was affectionately known as a “bulldog” when it came to delinquent accounts. She also assisted in every aspect of the practice, even helping with dental procedures when needed — sometimes even pulling teeth herself!
Adele was a fixture at Bob Roberts BBQ where she loved making homemade desserts for the patrons and greeting people every day. Adele was a beacon of happiness and light that everyone who ate there would say she added to the great food and ambiance.
Most importantly, Adele was an active member of First Methodist Church in Columbus, where she participated in adult Bible study, arranged flowers, and volunteered faithfully each week.
In addition to her parents, Adele was preceded in death by her husband, F.B. Wiygul.
Adele is survived by her two sons, Bobby A Wiygul of Columbus, Mississippi and Bradley D Wiygul of McKinney, Texas; her grandchildren, William, “Wils” Wiygul of Columbus, MS, Madeline S Wiygul of San Francisco, CA, Zachary B Wiygul of San Diego, CA, Ellie M Wiygul of Los Angeles, CA ; her sister, Jean Davidson of Tacoma, Washington; her brother, Thomas E. “Bub” Davidson and wife Kay Davidson of Columbus, Mississippi; her brother, David Davidson and wife Gerri Davidson of Reform, Alabama; her sister, Margaret Kelly and husband Herbert of Coaling, Alabama; and her sister, Rhonda Thompson and husband Bobby of Gulf Shores, Alabama
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Methodist Church in Columbus, MS where Adele would be heartfelt knowing your thoughts are returned to her loving community.
