The 31-year-old woman who was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her live-in boyfriend Thursday in Lowndes County is now in stable condition, according to county investigators.
Cora Williams was taken in critical condition to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle after 45-year-old Nathaniel Bankhead stabbed her more than four times during an argument at his father”s 332 E. Plum St. house Thursday evening, said Lowndes County Sheriff”s investigators.
Bankhead, who lived with his father, initially fled the scene but turned himself in Friday to the sheriff”s office, which has since charged him with aggravated assault with a weapon. His bond was set at $250,000.
Detective Tony Perkins, lead investigator on the case, said Williams had been sitting up and moving around at the hospital. Staff there mistakenly reported she had been moved Friday.
