First-term District 15 State Senator Bart Williams won reelection Tuesday by a 13.4% margin over Republican primary challenger Alan Sibley.
Williams took 4,533 votes (56.7%) to Sibley’s 3,458 (43.3%). The district includes parts of Oktibbeha, Webster, Choctaw and Montgomery counties.
“Obviously I feel very humbled the constituency saw to put me back in, and I think it’s really a testament to … being able to produce results for my district.”
Williams easily carried his home county of Oktibbeha, as well as Webster County. Sibley carried both Choctaw and Montgomery counties, which had much smaller voting bases in the district.
Sibley did not return a call for comment by press time.
District Attorney

In the 16th Circuit district attorney’s race, Republican Jase Dalrymple sweated out a 5,906 (53%) to 5,235 (47%) victory over Chuck Easley in the Republican primary. The district covers Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Clay and Noxubee counties. Both candidates hail from Lowndes.
Those totals do not include absentees from Noxubee County or affidavits that still need to be processed in all four counties, but the outstanding ballots won’t be enough to change the outcome.
Dalrymple easily carried Lowndes County, but Easley took Oktibbeha and held slight leads in Clay and Noxubee as of press time.
The winner will face incumbent Democrat Scott Colom in the Nov. 7 general election.
