Sarah Ward Hoffman, a West Point native and senior account executive for the DCI Group in Washington D.C. has been selected by Campaigns & Elections” Politics magazine as one of its 2010 Rising Stars.
Hoffman is a graduate of West Point High School and Mississippi State University. She is married to Aaron Hoffman, a freelance video editor working with National Geographic. They reside in Alexandria, Va.
The daughter of Rufus and Karen Ward of West Point, Hoffman worked on former Columbus Mayor Jeffrey Rupp”s mayoral campaign, researching records detailing political trends over the years, specifically mayoral campaigns. Her research was featured in a Dispatch editorial.
“I”m just extremely proud,” Rufus ward said of his daughter”s accomplishment. “She”s a hard worker. She”s gone a long way in a short time.”
Rufus Ward is a local historian and former prosecuting attorney for Clay County; Karen Ward is a social worker with the Mississippi Department of Human Services.
Hoffman”s brother, Bailey, lives in Bay St. Louis, working with youth programs on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
This year”s winners of the Rising Star designation are an international group that includes consultants, campaign managers, technological innovators, field organizers and fundraisers — all of whom are successful beyond their years.
“The 2010 class of Rising Stars is a diverse group of political operatives and strategists with representatives from every discipline and from across the entire political spectrum,” said James Klatell, managing editor of Politics. “These 41 men and women are helping campaigns around the world to succeed in rapidly changing environments.”
Campaigns & Elections Rising Stars are people less than 35 years old who have already made a significant mark in political consulting, campaigning or advocacy. The 2010 class includes 15 Democrats, 15 Republicans and 11 nonpartisan or international leaders chosen from a pool of hundreds of nominees.
The Rising Stars will be honored in the June issue of Politics and during our June training seminar, The Art of Political Campaigning.
