CLAY COUNTY – A West Point man faces a slew of charges related to sexual abuse of minors, according to a shertiff’s office press release issued Thursday.
Kenneth McWilliams Jr., 41, is charged with one count of sexual battery of a child under 14, a count of sexual battery of a child under 18, enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes and felony taking of a motor vehicle.
Sheriff Eddie Scott told The Dispatch the investigation into McWilliams began two to three weeks ago. During the investigation, McWilliams fled to Indiana in an allegedly stolen vehicle. Porter, Indiana police arrested McWilliams, and he was returned to Clay County Wednesday night, Scott said.
McWilliams is being held in Clay County Detention Center with bond set at $2 million.
Scott said the investigation in Clay County is ongoing, while Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office and the 16th Circuit District Attorney’s Office are also investigating McWilliams. The suspect has lived in each county in recent years, Scott said.
Capt. Brett Watson, chief investigator for OCSO, confirmed charges are expected against McWilliams in Oktibbeha County, as well.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact CCSO at (662) 494-2896, Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151 or leave a tip through the Crime Stoppers P3 app.
