The Commercial Dispatch obtained video footage of the armed robbery that occurred earlier this week at a Columbus business.
Terry Walker, 36, of 611 Forrest St. No. 46 in Aberdeen, and Larry Lee Bell, 58, of 200 Albert St. in Aberdeen, were arrested Tuesday and charged with armed robbery.
Columbus police believe the two men are responsible for the armed robbery of the Creekstone Chevron, located at 3920 Highway 45 N. Police said one of the men entered the store Tuesday at around 4:40 p.m., went to the bathroom and returned to give the clerk money to pay for a candy bar.
According to police, the man then produced a handgun and demanded all money be placed in a clear, plastic bag. The clerk followed directions, and the man left the store with an undetermined amount of money.
The subject left the parking lot of the business in a red Pontiac Grand Am with another subject and headed north along Highway 45 towards Monroe County. Columbus police officers, Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies and Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers pursued the vehicle and stopped it on the highway just north of the Monroe County bridge.
Police said the video indicates that Walker was the subject to enter the store and demand money.
The video provided to The Commercial Dispatch shows a man walk up to the counter, place a candy bar on the counter and hand the clerk money. Once the clerk opens the register, the man produces a gun and points it at the clerk. The clerk places all the money in a white bag and the man immediately leaves the store. The man appears to be wearing a shirt similar to the one Walker was wearing when arrested and booked.
