Columbus police are looking for a Columbus man and a Macon man believed to be responsible for a Wednesday-night home burglary caught on video.
According to police, Corey Smart, 24, of 1839 Plum Grove Road in Columbus, and Tavarous Mason, 28, of 416 John Colbert Road in Macon, are the two individuals believed to be responsible for a burglary at 706 Eighth St. S.
The incident occurred somewhere between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and midnight, police said, and a hidden camera in the master bedroom shows the two individuals numerous times. The 911 call reporting the incident came in just after midnight Thursday.
The video shows two armed black males enter a bedroom, turn on the lights and begin going through clothes and other belongings of the homeowner. The subjects are shown entering and leaving the room numerous times throughout the footage.
The individuals were armed during the burglary, police said, and the two gained entry through the window above the kitchen sink.
Clothing, jewelry, money, a Sony Playstation 3 console, DVDs and tools were taken from the residence.
“The monetary value exceeds $2,000,” a press release reads.
Police have not arrested Smart and Mason, and the two subjects face burglary of a dwelling charges. For it to be armed robbery, someone had to be inside the house at the time of the burglary.
