Two Columbus residents were killed Thursday morning in a two-car collision on Highway 12, according to Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant.
Braylan Dale, a 16-year-old Columbus High School student, was a passenger in a car traveling west at about 11 a.m. on Highway 12 near Harris Road when it collided head-on with an eastbound car driven by Breman Shea Woolbright, 32.
Dale was pronounced dead at the scene, and Woolbright died en route to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Dale was the front-seat passenger in the vehicle, said Bryan Moore, public information officer for Columbus Police Department. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for treatment. The other two passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by Mississippi Highway Patrol, Moore said.
