Three Columbus men have been arrested in connection with allegedly stealing parts from a Columbus railroad track. Ricky Don Sellers, 49 of 250 3rd Ave., Lionel Hampton Jr, 21, of 75 Reeves Drive and Lamar Coby Williams, 31, of 75 Reeves Drive were arrested by the Columbus Police Department on June 26 and charged with grand larceny. Williams was also charged with providing false information.
All three men remain in custody at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. Initial court appearances and bond amounts have not been set. Williams was issued a $650 bond on the false information charge. His court appearance for the charge is July 11.
Reports stated officers were dispatched to 2nd Street South near the railroad track after a call that said three men were stealing railroad plates. The officers found the men in a black GMC truck at 1509 8th St. S after the vehicle had a blowout. The railroad plates were allegedly found in the truck.
The CPD is also investigating a break-in of a church. Maranatha Faith Center, at 716 Waterworks Road, was allegedly burglarized and vandalized Tuesday night. Tony Ewing said someone allegedly broke out windows in the church as a means to gain access to the building. Two flat screen TVs were listed as stolen. Also reported stolen was grape juice which is used by the church for its communion services.
