Three people are behind bars after they allegedly burglarized the same business on two different nights.
Xzavier McDaniel, 23, of Hamilton, Alabama, faces two counts of burglary. Zackary Webb, 23, of Hamilton, Alabama, is charged with one count of burglary. McKenzi Turner, 21, of Columbus, was arrested for conspiracy to commit burglary.
A Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office press release said deputies on Monday responded to a Chevron convenience store on Highway 50 East in Columbus at about 4 a.m. after receiving a report of an alarm sounding.
Just as E-911 received the alarm notification, the business manager arrived at the store as well. Deputies reviewed surveillance footage and observed two male suspects entering the store, stealing money from the cash register and products off the shelves before leaving.
At about 1:50 a.m. the next day, the suspects allegedly broke in a second time and stole more money from the register.
After reviewing surveillance footage from nearby residences and other businesses, detectives tracked the individuals to a home on Pine Breeze Road, where they found evidence linking the suspects to the burglaries.
All three suspects were taken to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. McDaniel is held on a $50,000 bond. Webb’s bond is set at $25,000. Turner is held on $10,000 bond.
