State Sen. Terry Brown, R-Columbus, was elected secretary of the Mississippi Legislative Joint Committee on Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review.
Brown, a veteran lawmaker, chairs the Senate Fees, Salaries and Administration Committee and serves on several others including Economic Development and Finance.
The PEER committee is composed of seven senators appointed by the lieutenant governor and seven representatives appointed by the speaker of the house.
Among the duties of PEER to the Legislature is to provide program evaluations, background and special investigations, and economy and efficiency reviews.
