The case of a Lowndes County math teacher accused of sexual battery has been continued until the next session of Lowndes County Circuit Court in December.
According to court records, the defense needs additional time to conduct discovery.
Katherine Robbins, of 4097 New Hope Road in Lowndes County, was placed on administrative leave when allegations she had a sexual relationship with a teenage student surfaced in March.
Though she pleaded not guilty in May to the sexual battery of a 17-year-old student, Robbins, then 40, was not renewed as a teacher at New Hope High School this year.
Robbins is married with two young children. She is accused of having a sexual relationship with the male student over an extended period of time, according to sources at the school.
One of her students said Robbins often flirted with male classmates.
Robbins worked at New Hope Middle School as an alternative school teacher in 1999, before being transferred to the high school, where she taught math until 2006.
She left the district to move to south Mississippi but returned to New Hope in 2008, according to district records.
Judge Jim Kitchens will preside over the case.
