Two unrelated shootings reported Monday left a victim injured and multiple suspects under arrest, Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Bryan Moore told The Dispatch.
At about 8 p.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim at Sandfield One Stop on the corner of Main Street and South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
A male victim was suffering a gunshot wound to the lower leg at the gas station and was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Makaijah Kiaire Taylor, 23, of Columbus was arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting and charged with accessory after the fact.
Detectives are reviewing video surveillance from the store and searching for other suspects, Moore said.
About an hour later, another 911 call reporting gunfire brought police to the 2400 block of 18th Avenue North. There were no injuries reported, but property was damaged in the gunfire, Moore said.
Codey Gerrell Sanders, 23 and Antarrio Brown, 19, both of Columbus, were arrested in connection to the shooting and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Taylor, Sanders and Brown are all being held at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, awaiting their initial appearance in court.
Investigations into the two shootings are ongoing, Moore said. Anyone with information related to either incident is asked to contact the Columbus Police Department at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
