Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a motive in a Monday night shooting in Caledonia, according to Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
About 9 p.m., deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Evergreen Cove, Hawkins said. When they arrived they found a 20-year-old man with bullet wounds in the chest and both legs.
The victim was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he is listed in critical condition, Hawkins said.
Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened.

“The victim has not been able to talk to us due to his condition,” Hawkins said. “We don’t have a motive or know any of the circumstances at this point.”
Hawkins asked anyone with knowledge of the case to call the LCSO at (662) 328-6788 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151, or use the P3 Tips app. Tipsters remain anonymous, and are eligible for a cash reward if the information leads to an arrest.
