STARKVILLE — A Starkville man has been arrested after a Saturday night shooting at an apartment complex on Sand Road that sent a man to the hospital.
Jonas Andrews, 38, is charged with aggravated assault, according to a press release from the Starkville Police Department.
Police got a call of shots fired just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday to the Sandhill Arms apartments, where they found “evidence indicating that a shooting had occurred,” the release said.
A male victim who had been shot was treated at OCH Regional Medical Center and later released. Sgt. Brandon Lovelady, SPD’s public information officer, said Andrews and the victim were acquainted before the shooting. There were no other injuries reported, he said.
Following an investigation, police identified Andrews as a suspect and arrested him Sunday after a brief foot chase through the Sunset subdivision.
Andrews is being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail. His bond had not been set as of press time Monday.
