STARKVILLE — A Chickasaw County man suspected of robbing a McDonald”s restaurant last week on Highway 12 has been apprehended.
James White, 34, of 179 County Road 30, Houston, was arrested in Tupelo and charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to distribute narcotics. He was transported to Clay County Jail, where he was being held on a $110,000 bond as of Tuesday afternoon. Starkville Police Department suspects are held in Clay County due to a lack of space at Oktibbeha County Jail.
The Tupelo Police Department assisted the Starkville Police Department with the investigation and White”s arrest.
Just before 4 a.m. on Jan. 19, a man entered the McDonald”s at 817 Highway 12 W., then confronted a manager and demanded money. The suspect was armed with a handgun and wore a hooded sweatshirt and bandana across his face, according to police.
After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled on foot in a northerly direction. Police arrived within a minute of the robbery and scoured the area, but did not locate the perpetrator.
Police did not reveal what led them to White or how he was established as a suspect.
