The Columbus Police Department is investigating an early-morning drive-by shooting in the northside of downtown Columbus.
At about 1:11 a.m. Saturday, CPD officers were sent to 1110 7th Ave. N. regarding a drive-by shooting, said CPD Public Relations Officer Terrie Songer.
An unnamed victim, who was shot twice, was walking east on Seventh Avenue North, when shots were fired from the inside of a gold Chrysler, driving past.
Officers stopped the Chrysler “within minutes of the shooting,” Songer said. Joseph Allen Rush, 18, of 1425 School House Avenue in Columbus, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon.
No bond or court date has been set.
The victim was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with non-life threatening injuries.
The CPD”s Criminal Investigative Division has taken over the investigation.
