Starkville Police Department has arrested four individuals for a Wednesday shooting at Brookville Garden Apartments.
SPD responded to a call of shots fired at 12:57 p.m. Dequan Montgomery and Charles Dailey, both 22, have been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault, while Eric McCarter, Jr., 19, has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact, and Claudia Holly, 26, is charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits. No bonds have been set.
The gunshot victim was transferred to OCH Regional Medical Center and flown out of the area for further treatment.
This is not the first incident that has occurred at Brookville Garden this year. Five individuals were arrested for another aggravated assault shooting on April 17.
Police Chief Mark Ballard commended SPD for responding to the incident in a timely manner.
“A credit to the members of the Starkville Police Department who responded quickly and apprehended the suspects within two minutes,” Ballard said. “This is a narrative that has been consistent throughout 2021, individuals making for whatever reason the stupid choice of using a weapon in a fight. They should know and the record shows that this department is committed to apprehension and accountability; stop, think, don’t make stupid choices.”
