Columbus police continue investigating the Saturday robbery of The Liquor Barrel on Highway 69 South.
“As of yesterday, we were getting back with the owners to look at their surveillance tape from that night so we can put something together for Crime Stoppers,” Columbus Police Chief Joseph St. John said this morning.
According to information provided by CPD Public Information Officer Terrie Songer, officers were dispatched to The Liquor Barrel Saturday night in reference to an armed robbery.
Two black males dressed in all black clothing and wearing ski masks demanded money from the store employee.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the business.
CPD also is investigating another Saturday night incident in which officers and investigators were sent to the 2500 block of Fifth Street North in reference to a gunshot victim.
The officers arrived on the scene and discovered the victim was robbed by two black males wearing ski masks.
The victim was shot by one robber as they took an undetermined amount of cash. The victim”s injuries are not life-threatening, Songer reports.
According to reports, no arrests have been made, and it has not been determined whether or not the incidents are related.
CPD”s Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the cases.
Two similar incidents occurred on the day of and eve of Halloween.
A trio of men, on Saturday, Oct. 31, robbed a contracted painter at gunpoint while he was working in an unoccupied house just after 9:30 p.m.
The man was painting alone in the back bedroom of an unsold house on the 800 block of Eighth Street North when three black males wearing black robes, surgical masks and turbans entered the home, brandishing a nickel-plated pistol. They took an undisclosed amount of cash from the painter and forced him into a bathroom before fleeing the house.
On Friday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at 901 11th St. S., three black males dressed in black clothes and black ski masks knocked on the home”s door and forced their way inside while pointing a gun at the resident.
When the man told the assailants he didn”t have any money in the home, they went through the house and stole a house phone.
