ODENVILLE, Ala. – The St. Clair County sheriff says a grand jury will review an investigation that turned up the bodies of two premature infants that had been flushed down a toilet.
Sheriff Terry Surles says family members contacted him Friday about allegations that two premature infants were disposed of in a toilet. The septic tank of a home in Odenville was checked, and the bodies were found Friday evening.
The sheriff said the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences reported that the babies were not live births and would not have lived had they been born in a hospital. He told The Daily Home that the mother of the two premature infants had nothing to do with the bodies being flushed down a toilet.
