The Columbus Police Department is seeking public aid in locating and arresting a suspect involved in a May 23 wreck in downtown Columbus.
Police believe 44-year-old Richard Williams, of 1010 Third St. S. in Columbus, fled officers after a Toyota pickup truck he was driving while fleeing from police was struck by a Cadillac at the intersection of Fifth Street and Main Street.
After the collision, the truck overturned and slid nearly an entire block before coming to rest near the intersection of Fifth Street South and College Street.
When the truck came to a rest, Williams and a passenger in the truck, Jerry Sharp, fled the vehicle. CPD officers apprehended Sharp, but were unable to locate Williams.
The wreck happened a few minutes after Sharp and Williams fled CPD officer Thomas Pearson during a traffic stop in front of Carl Hogan Toyota on Highway 45 North.
After the pair sped away from Pearson and began speeding south on Highway 45 North, CPD officers pursued the trailer-laden vehicle until it ran a red light and was struck by the Cadillac in downtown Columbus.
Police are asking anyone with information on Williams to call the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 662-494-0109 or the CPD Criminal Investigation Division at 662-244-3552.
