A man was fatally shot Sunday night on Northside, but police say details of the crime are still sketchy and suspects are at large.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant identified the victim as Sammie Corder, 67.
Columbus Police Department officers responded to a shots fired call in the 700 block of 21st Street North around 8 p.m., according to Public Information Officer Joe Dillon.
“There were multiple gunshots, and someone in the area called 911,” Dillon said.
When officers arrived they found Corder, who was pronounced dead on the scene, Dillon said. Authorities said Corder was sitting in an SUV outside his home when a car drove by and the occupants shot him.
Dillon said CPD is pulling footage from city surveillance cameras in the area with hopes of identifying the suspect’s vehicle.
CPD asks anyone with information on these cases to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151 or use the P3 Tips smartphone app. Tips are anonymous, and there is a cash reward if they result in an arrest.
