Columbus police arrested and charged a Columbus woman Wednesday after police believe she stabbed a man with whom she is in a “dating relationship.”
According to police, Shervica Lashawn Nalls, 29, of 206 N. Browder St. No. 1, stabbed Sammie Terell McCoy, 29, three times around 10:30 p.m. McCoy was stabbed twice in the back and once in the left forearm, police said.
The charge is domestic violence/aggravated assault with a weapon, a felony. Nalls was taken into custody at around 11 p.m.
McCoy was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle and later treated and released.
“Both parties are in a dating relationship,” Interim Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen said. “I have no motive for the stabbing, nor did McCoy give us one.”
Nalls will have a preliminary hearing and bond set today, police said.
McQueen said the maximum penalty for the offense is up to 20 years in prison.
