A Columbus man was wounded Saturday evening in an apparent drive-by shooting, according to Columbus Public Information Officer Joe Dillon.
The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Lawrence Drive and Maple Street in East Columbus, Dillon said.
The victim was on foot and was shot at from a passing vehicle, Dillon said. Multiple shots were fired and the victim was hit once.
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle by ambulance with what police believe to be non-life-threatening injuries, Dillon said.
Dillon said investigators are not releasing a description of the vehicle at this time, but added that one of the city’s surveillance cameras captured the shooting.
Investigators do not have a motive for the shooting yet, Dillon said.
“It’s too early to tell what led up to it,” he said.
Columbus Police Department asks anyone with information on this case to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151 or use the P3 Tips smartphone app. Tips are anonymous, and there is a cash reward if they result in an arrest.
