A Columbus teenager is behind bars and accused of murdering a man found near a burned car in November.
Investigators with the Columbus Police Department arrested Kevis Kwesi Hill, 17, of 1815 Third Ave. S., Wednesday, according to a press release from CPD. Hill is accused in the shooting death of 18-year-old D’Shawn Boyd. A warrant was issued for Hill’s arrest Tuesday.
First responders with CPD and Columbus Fire and Rescue found Boyd’s body on Nov. 28, 2016, when responding to a vehicle fire on the 2100 block of Eighth Avenue South. Boyd’s body was near the burning vehicle, and preliminary autopsy results later stated Boyd died from a gunshot wound.
Hill previously was indicted for three counts of aggravated assault, for which his bond was set at $225,000.
Municipal Court Judge Gary Goodwin denied Hill’s bond for murder. He is in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
