Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle CEO and Administrator Paul Cade is being transferred to the BMH-Memphis location after 15 years leading the hospital in Columbus.

Cade will be replaced by Robert Coleman, CEO and administrator for BMH-Yazoo and Attala, according to a press release from Baptist Memorial Health Care. Coleman has run those two hospital locations since 2018.
These two are among a handful of promotions and transfers the system announced this week. Cade’s new appointment will start on April 3, and Coleman will join BMH-Golden Triangle later that month.
“I am pleased to announce these CEO appointments for Baptist Memorial hospitals,” said Paul Depriest, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Baptist Memorial Health Care, in the press release. “It is rewarding to promote from within our organization because we have qualified leaders who excel at their jobs. I have the highest confidence in all of them and look forward to working with them to achieve better health for our communities.”
Cade has been CEO of BMH-Golden Triangle since 2008. In his time there, he has led the hospital through various challenges and facility improvements.
He oversaw the hospital’s expansion of its mental health care facilities and open its Behavioral Health wing in 2012. He also helped launch the hospital’s Graduate Medical Education program in 2017, the hospital’s first student residency course from which five physicians have been hired.
Notably, he also led BMH-GT through the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital currently has 100 surgeons and physicians and 1,200 other staff, making it the single largest employer aside from the Columbus Air Force Base in Lowndes County. The hospital also provides $66 million in charity care to Golden Triangle patients annually, according to data it provided The Dispatch.
Coleman has worked in hospital administration since 2010, first as an administrative director for emergency and critical care services at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center until 2015, then as assistant vice president for Mississippi Baptist Health Systems until 2018 when he took over at Yazoo and Attala.
BMH-GT currently has 323 beds, making it one of the largest hospitals in the Memphis, Tennessee-based Baptist Memorial Health Care system. The hospital has earned an ‘A’ rating from Leapfrog, a safety rating company, for 10 years straight.
The Dispatch attempted unsuccessfully to reach both Cade and Coleman, who were unavailable by press time.
