NOXUBEE COUNTY – Two Navy pilots safely ejected from an aircraft Tuesday before it crashed on private farmland in Noxubee County near Shuqualak.
The two members of the Meridian-based Training Air Wing One ejected from the T-45C Goshawk before the crash at about 12:30 p.m., according to a press release from the Chief of Naval Air Training Public Affairs Office. The two pilots are being evaluated at a local medical center.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Emergency services and military first responders are on the scene to secure the site, according to the press release. The public is asked to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to conduct their operations safely and preserve the site for investigators.
Earlier this month, a pair of Columbus Air Force Base pilots safely ejected from a T-38 Talon II during a training exercise over west Alabama. Those pilots were treated for their injuries and released from the hospital, and the cause of that incident is still being investigated.
