Columbus Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in two Thursday shootings, according to a press release.
The more serious of the two shootings happened at about 9:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Sixth Street North. Officers responded to a report of shots fired, and found more than 35 shell casings when they arrived on scene.
A nearby house and a car were struck by gunfire, but nobody was injured.
Public Information Officer Johannah Owusu told The Dispatch Friday morning investigators weren’t sure how many shooters were involved.
“We’re getting low cooperation from members of the public,” she said. “There were witnesses, but we couldn’t even get a vehicle description.”
The other shooting happened earlier in the day. CPD officers and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 400 block of Forrest Boulevard at around 5:45 p.m. While several shell casings were recovered, there were no injuries and no apparent property damage.
Citizens were uncooperative there as well, Owusu said.
Police don’t know if the incidents are connected at this time, she said, due to lack of witnesses.
CPD asks anyone with information on these shootings to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151 or use the P3 smartphone app. Tips are anonymous, and tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
