STARKVILLE — The Moncrief Park pool is closed until further notice after a vehicle struck the exterior wall of the pool bathrooms. The incident left significant damage to the northeast-facing side of the structure.
“We believe it to be accidental,” said Sergeant Brandon Lovelady, public information officer for the Starkville Police Department.
The accident occurred on June 16 around 6:30 p.m. Images from the scene show a minimally damaged tan sedan stopped with nearly half the body of the vehicle inside the structure. No one was injured in the accident.
“Moncrief Pool is closed until further notice due to the concern of an unstable structure following an accident” Starkville Parks and Recreation shared online. “We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.”
While the pool remains closed indefinitely, all other park facilities continue to operate as normal.
