There’s a new eatery with a unique style in East Columbus.
New Chicken Dee serves a variety of food including both American and Korean dishes. The new restaurant at 217 Alabama St. is open 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Monday-Thursday, as well as 10:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. on Friday. Folks must preorder Korean menu items the day before. Dishes include bulgogi fried rice, kimbap, yakimandu, tteokbokki and more. Orders can be placed by texting (662) 275-2466.
Also in Columbus, Robertson Medical Clinic had its ribbon-cutting Thursday. The new clinic at 326 Military Road opened this year as the new primary care clinic. Faye Robertson, nurse practitioner, said she accepts walk-ins, most insurances and is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.
Over in Starkville, Robert Camp, partner with Dan Camp Family Real Estate, continues his late father’s dream with more upgrades coming to Starkville’s Cotton District. Just off Rue du Grande Fromage, Camp is building two patio extensions to Cotton District locations named Rue Huttes.
Each extension will be approximately 950 square feet, adding much-needed additional outdoor space for both The Klassroom bar, 701 University Drive, and Arepas Venezuelan restaurant, 102 Rue Du Grand Fromage.
“We’re creating some energy in an area that was really just dead space,” Camp said. “We try to create spaces out of what’s available and this was just easy pickings. It continues the connection of the neighborhood.”
The outdoor patio will have a bar, seating and ADA-compliant restrooms. Camp anticipates Rue Huttes to be open and operational by the end of the summer.
Also in town, Blackjack Self Storage, 1943 Blackjack Road, is opening this month. The self-storage facility offers various size units from 5-by-5 feet to 10-by-40 feet with gate access and climate-controlled units. Blackjack Self Storage office hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday with units accessible 6 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week.
