A Tupelo man has been arrested and charged with sexual battery on a child, according to the Columbus Police Department.
Thomas White, 44, was indicted last summer but fled Columbus, according to city Public Information Officer Joe Dillon. CPD worked with the U.S. Marshals Service, who located him in Tupelo and arrested him April 29.
White allegedly had sex with a minor, who was under 15 years old, in Columbus, Dillon said. The victim and White knew each other but were not related.
White appeared in Lowndes County Circuit Court on May 8 for his initial hearing and was released on a $25,000 bond. A trial date has not yet been set.
