CLAY COUNTY – A man is reportedly in stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the head Saturday.
Deputies responded at about 1:05 a.m. to reports of shots fired on White Station Road where they found the victim, according to a Clay County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The victim was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and is reported to be in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
At the scene, investigators located multiple shell casings in the roadway along with three vehicles struck by gunfire.
Sheriff Eddie Scott told The Dispatch he could not definitively say how many shots were fired, or how many people are suspected to be involved, but said investigators are following up on multiple leads.
“It’s still really early in the investigation,” Scott told The Dispatch. “… We’re getting a lot of information, processing a lot of information, and we hope to have more answers in the next few days.”
Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting is asked to contact CCSO at (662) 494-2896 or contact Golden Triangle Crimestoppers at (800) 530-7151.
