A veteran journalist has rejoined the Dispatch staff.
Kristin Mamrack assumed the role of news editor Monday, replacing former news editor Nerissa Young.
Mamrack, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi. She worked as a staff reporter for The Dispatch from 2004 to 2010.
“We are thrilled to have Kristin back in the newsroom,” Dispatch Operations Manager Peter Imes said Saturday. “She’s smart, knows the community and — perhaps most importantly — understands the importance of quality local journalism.”
As news editor, Mamrack will be second in command to Managing Editor Garthia Elena Halbert-Burnett. Mamrack’s duties will include planning and assigning stories and coordinating reporters and photographers.
