A Lowndes County man will spend 10 years in prison following a guilty plea Monday in circuit court to one count of armed robbery.
Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher Tate, 20, in May 2016 for armed robberies at three different convenience stores in the county, including County Mart, Creek Stone Chevron and Land Road Food Mart.
Though a grand jury indicted Tate on three counts of armed robbery, two were retired when Tate pleaded.
Judge Lee Howard sentenced Tate to 25 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections with 10 to serve.
Curtis Clay Jr., 21, was also arrested in connection with the robberies and last week pleaded to one count of armed robbery. He will spend 20 years in MDOC. The third suspect in the case, Ziree Butler, 20, pleaded guilty to armed robbery in February and is serving a 15-year sentence in MDOC.
