The Lowndes County school board is going paperless.
School board members now can access electronic school board agenda”s at the Lowndes County School District website — lowndes.k12.ms.us. By April, the electronic agendas will be available to the general public, said Tina Younger, assistant to the LCSD superintendent.
The school board meets every second Friday of the month at 11 a.m. at LCSD central office on Highway 45 South. Agendas will be available online the Wednesday prior to each meeting but are subject to change until the day of the meeting.
Younger presented details of the electronic board book to the school board at its regular meeting on Friday. The change means board members and the public have an opportunity to review the agenda prior to the meeting. It also means less wasted paper. Younger provides 20 or more paper copies of agendas at each meeting.
The website also will archive board agendas and minutes.
In other matters, the board approved making President”s Day a regular school day. Feb. 21 will be a working day for teachers and students, making up for Wednesday”s snow day.
