SALTILLO — Police say a 20-year-old woman was found shot to death late Thursday at a home in Saltillo.
Investigators on Friday identified the woman as Anna Catherine McCoy.
She was an Itawamba Community College soccer player and daughter of retired Tupelo police officer Cotton McCoy.
Saltillo Investigator Mark Haygood tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that a .40 caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
Authorities say another person was in the room at the time of the shooting. Police were awaiting for an autopsy report before deciding whether to file charges.
ICC head soccer coach Mike Sullivan says the team canceled its plans to play at a tournament in Jackson this weekend.
