Bluecutt Road is expected to see $1 million in improvements in the coming months. The City Council Tuesday approved a plan to widen the turning lanes at the intersection of Bluecutt and Military roads, where Huddle House is located, and at Bluecutt and Seventh Street North, near Heritage Academy.
The plan also calls for workers to change out traffic lights so they are suspended by metal poles rather than hanging lines. The new traffic lights also will contain sensors to help with traffic flow. If there is only traffic in one direction, the sensor-controlled lights will remain green in the other direction to allow traffic to continue.
Construction Engineering and Inspection Services was tentatively tapped for the job, if they can work with the funding limitations. The project will be paid for by MDOT. The council approved an agreement with Construction Engineering and Inspection Services in December for the project. The city paid $50,000 in engineering costs.
