If you need to see the tax office, renew your license or file a lawsuit in court Friday in the Golden Triangle, don’t go.
For sanitation services, it’s a mixed bag.
In Columbus, Starkville, Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties, government offices will be closed
Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving, except for emergency services.
In Columbus and Starkville, closed offices include City Hall, the building department and public works, among others. Columbus and Starkville Police Department and Columbus Fire and Rescue and Starkville Fire Department will be open.
In Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties, all offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, including the circuit and chancery court, the tax office and the Board of Supervisors. They will reopen Monday morning. Emergency services such as 911 dispatchers, the sheriff’s office and Lowndes Volunteer Fire Department will remain open.
However, Golden Triangle Waste Services, which picks up trash for Columbus, as well as Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties, will reopen Friday to pick up Thursday’s trash routes starting at 7 a.m. Friday’s routes will run Saturday, according to the GTWS Facebook page.
Starkville’s sanitation department will not collect garbage on Thursday or Friday. Normal routes will resume Monday.
