When it comes to businesses expanding their reach throughout the Golden Triangle, I think most people can agree that working with existing competition can be good for everybody.
That said, I’m happy to report that the Baptist Memorial Health Care, owner of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, has entered a joint-venture with Urgent Team Family of Urgent Care and Walk-In Centers to acquire and rebrand 10 clinics throughout the Southeast, including one in Columbus and one in West Point.
The two clinics, located at 1503 Hwy. 45 N. in Columbus next to the Sports Specialty Store, and 7474 Hwy. 45 Alt. N. in West Point, next to the Yamato Japanese Steak House, will be renamed Baptist Urgent Care in March 2024.
Baptist Memorial Health Care President and CEO Jason Little said the partnership will increase Baptist hospitals’ urgent but non life-threatening injury and illness care by adding off-site locations for treatment.
“Enhancing community access to urgent care is a priority for us,” Little said in a press release. “This collaboration will expand our non-emergency, walk-in services and make access to urgent care more convenient for our patients. With Urgent Team’s expertise in offering a quality patient experience for urgent care and Baptist’s long history of caring for Mid-South communities, we will provide a new level of retail-based quality care to the Mid-South.”
Honing in on West Point, the project to bring a Zaxby’s to 5621 Hwy. 45 N. Alt. draws ever closer toward completion.
Dimension Construction Contractor Phil Durity told me due to spotty rain over the last few weeks, the project has been delayed as he and his crew work to put up the building’s frame and exterior walls.
Still, that is mostly complete and Durity and his crew are working on the interior construction by adding floor tiles, dividing walls and setting up the electrical system.
Durity also hopes to begin installing kitchen equipment and dining room furniture just a few days after Thanksgiving and have the restaurant ready to open by mid-December.
“The rain has slowed us down a little bit,” he said. “We are hoping to get this done soon and start putting in the electrical system, and the equipment and furniture should be here soon. We’ve just got a lot of work to do.”
But West Point isn’t the only town with a new business set to open in December.
In Columbus, the new T-Mobile store at 1521 Hwy. 45 N., next to O’Reilly Auto Parts, is nearly finished with its buildout and is slated to open in early December.
Horizon Retail Construction Superintendent Paul Diebold said he and his team are working on installing the electrical system and plumbing for the building, as well as setting up furniture for the store.
He plans to turn the project over to T-Mobile’s staff, who will then finish setting up the location for business.
“We’re still missing a few things, but we are pretty close,” Diebold said. “T-Mobile wants to open the store on Dec. 7.”
Finally, my friends, a Starkville financial planning business, has moved into some new digs.
Barbara Coats, senior financial representative for Modern Woodmen of America’s Starkville office, relocated from its original location at 102 W. Main St., to 322 University Drive, near the Starkville Public Library in mid-October.
Coats said she had been looking for a new space for about two years, but the move became necessary when the firm hired a new employee without having the necessary space.
“We wanted more accessibility,” Coats said. “We obviously needed more space, and we needed a conference room, which we weren’t able to have in our former location.”
Well, folks, that’s all for now. Make sure to check back in next week for more goings on in business.
