Bank of Commerce has expanded its reach to all three cities in the Golden Triangle, adding a branch in West Point.
The new branch opened recently in the building that formerly housed RadioShack and AT&T, directly in front of Walmart.
“We’ve been in Starkville for 10 years,” Executive Vice President Bruff Sanders said. “We’ve been in Columbus about five. West Point is going to be a natural fit to add to our footprint.”
We all love to kick back and chill after a long day. Sinsations Hookah lounge opened July 4 at 1820 Short Main St. in Columbus. Owner Stephen Harrison said the business had more than 35 customers on opening day alone. Hookah is a method of smoking flavored or unflavored tobacco through a water pipe using hot coals.
Harrison thinks the business is a great way for people to come and relax.
“You know, sit down, have a good vibe, smoke on your tobacco and carry on good conversation,” Harrison said.
Also in Columbus, I am sad to say the local nail salon, Beautiful Nails located at 2310 Highway 45 N. will be closing on July 31.
Owner Khanhly Nguyen said the closure comes after difficulty finding a certified nail technician in the Columbus area. She has been working at the store alone for more than a year but will now be renting booth space at the new Hive Beauty Salon located at 422 Main St.
“I hoped to find some employees but it’s just been difficult to find,” Nguyen said.
Beautiful Nails has been in business for more than 15 years according to Nguyen.
On the other hand, The Hive Beauty Salon opened Wednesday, according to an announcement on Facebook. Amber Scott and Rosario Carillo posted a video of the “opening soon” sign being scrubbed off the front window, replacing it with “Now Open.”
While the owners could not be reached for comment, I hope that others will be sure to stop by and say hello.
Nothing quenches summer thirst like a delicious, mouth-watering drink from your favorite drink shop. Celebrate Nutrition, located at 2401 Highway 45 N., opened in June. I, for one, will be trying the gummy bear drink.
I don’t know about everyone else but the only thing that keeps me from a 28-inch waistline is gelato ice cream. In Starkville, Dolce, an artisan gelato shop, is almost finished moving into its new location at 509 University Drive with only one last inspection to go before it can reopen. Dolce closed its location at 101 West Main St. on March 19.
Dolce announced it will be open soon in a Facebook post.
“We are soooo close to being ready to open. Just a few pieces of trim and a couple of tables and we are off. We can’t wait to share some of the cool things we are adding to Dolce this month,” the post reads.
I always love to leave with a positive update! Chick-Fil-A located at 701 Highway 12 E. in Starkville, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with events going on all week. Today is Thirsty Thursday! Swing by the Starkville location and pick up any size tea — except the gallon jugs — for free with the purchase of an entree.
“To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are celebrating all week long with great events and giveaways to show our appreciation! You won’t want to miss it,” the Facebook post reads.
Well, folks, that’s all for now! Make sure to check back in next week for more goings on in business!
